Tom's Projects 'n' Stuff

After a bit of research on what is required to make a pinball machine I’ve made a list of all the things I need to be able to do:

Computer programming:
Well I first took an interest in programming because I wanted to make my own computer games. Mum and dad bought me a computer when I was 12…
…and I never saw daylight again. This may have helped with me being mistaken for 18 (by some drunk thing at a Kalgoorlie Pub) when i’m actually 30.

Electronics:
While study computer engineering we all had to do 6 months worth of electronic pracs. Learnt heaps but that was 12 years ago and I’ve forgotten most of it now.Will have to dig out all my old text books.

Mechanics:
mmm, I could make all the playfield mechanics myself with solenoids and a shit load of angle brackets from Bunnings but i think it’s far easier to use existing pinball machine parts and would properly be a lot cheaper too. I both love and hate Bunnings.

Carpentry:
I’m not the best at this. So I may hire someone with a CNC router to cut the cabinet.

Artwork:
This all depends on the theme i choose.
I have some photoshop skills
