Need skills!

by Tom on Jun.17, 2010, under Project Pinball

After a bit of research on what is required to make a pinball machine I’ve made a list of all the things I need to be able to do:

Computer programming:
Well I first took an interest in programming because I wanted to make my own computer games. Mum and dad bought me a computer when I was 12…
…and I never saw daylight again. This may have helped with me being mistaken for 18 (by some drunk thing at a Kalgoorlie Pub) when i’m actually 30.

Electronics:
While study computer engineering we all had to do 6 months worth of electronic pracs. Learnt heaps but that was 12 years ago and I’ve forgotten most of it now. Will have to dig out all my old text books.

Mechanics:
mmm, I could make all the playfield mechanics myself with solenoids and a shit load of angle brackets from Bunnings but i think it’s far easier to use existing pinball machine parts and would properly be a lot cheaper too. I both love and hate Bunnings.

Carpentry:
I’m not the best at this. So I may hire someone with a CNC router to cut the cabinet.

Artwork:
This all depends on the theme i choose.
I have some photoshop skills

Like making a 30th birthday invite for my friend Maria and myself.
